In a world where every action matters to preserve our planet, we have decided to take concrete action. At Véto-pharma, our mission goes beyond protecting the health of bees, these precious guardians of biodiversity. We are also committed to reducing our ecological footprint as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach.

Today, we are proud to share a major step forward: a significant proportion of our production now relies on solar energy. This initiative is part of our overall sustainable development approach and represents a key step for the future.

An energy transition serving animal health and the environment

Our commitment to animal health is now combined with a responsible energy transition. From now on, some of our products designed to protect bees’ health will be manufactured using renewable, environmentally friendly energy.

This initiative perfectly embodies the One Health concept, which inseparably links human, animal, and environmental health. Using solar energy reduces our consumption of conventional electricity and lessen our dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

A high-performance solar installation: figures that speak for themselves

To give concrete expression to our commitment, we have installed 960 solar panels (420 kWp/unit) on land adjacent to our production plant in Chaillac (Centre of France).

This infrastructure enables us to produce 465,164 kWh annually, covering 24% of our energy needs.
The winter season in the southern part of the Indre region (center of France) does not see a high level of sunshine, but when the sun is out, the solar farm can cover all the site’s energy needs at strategic times of the day.
The self-consumption rate (the proportion of photovoltaic energy consumed by the site compared with the total possible photovoltaic production) is 92%, which is an excellent performance.

These figures testify to the significant impact of our sustainable approach.

A global commitment to reducing our ecological footprint

Our energy transition is part of a broader vision: significantly reducing our ecological footprint at all levels of our activity:

Water consumption reduction: Our processes have been redesigned to limit the use of this precious resource.

Waste recycling: Over 50% of our waste is recycled, and we constantly strive to improve these results.

Collection of used strips in France: Since 2019, this program has collected more than 16 tonnes of strips, contributing to its recovery.

Eco-responsible packaging: We are actively working to reduce and optimise our packaging to minimise its ecological footprint while complying with the strict standards associated with veterinary medicines.
